Protecting & Restoring Your Hearing Health

Hearing loss affects over 3.5 million Australians and is the third most common chronic health condition nationally — yet most people wait an average of 7 years before seeking help. Early assessment and intervention dramatically improve quality of life outcomes.

Our Mornington audiologist conducts thorough hearing evaluations using state-of-the-art audiometric equipment, providing accurate diagnosis and personalised management options. Whether you're experiencing gradual hearing loss, ringing in the ears (tinnitus) or managing occupational noise exposure, our audiology service is here for you.

Hearing loss is profoundly underdiagnosed and undertreated in Australia — with an average delay of 7 years between first noticing hearing difficulties and seeking professional help. This delay has real consequences: research consistently links untreated hearing loss to social isolation, cognitive decline and depression. At Peninsula MDC Mornington, our qualified audiologist provides comprehensive hearing assessments, independent hearing aid advice and tinnitus management — and eligible patients over 65 can access Government Hearing Services at no out-of-pocket cost.

What We Offer

Pure Tone Audiometry

The gold standard hearing test measuring hearing sensitivity across a range of frequencies in each ear, producing an audiogram that maps your hearing ability.

Speech Audiometry

Assessment of speech discrimination ability in quiet and noisy environments — going beyond pure tones to understand how well you process and understand speech.

Hearing Aid Assessment & Fitting

Independent assessment of hearing aid candidacy, selection and fitting of devices from leading manufacturers, with follow-up adjustments to optimise performance.

Tinnitus Assessment & Management

Comprehensive tinnitus evaluation including sound therapy, Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT), hearing aid integration and counselling strategies for habituation.

Paediatric Audiology

Hearing assessments for children using age-appropriate techniques (play audiometry, visual reinforcement audiometry) to detect hearing loss early and support speech development.

Occupational Hearing Assessment

Baseline and monitoring audiometry for workers in noisy industries, compliant with WorkSafe Victoria requirements and Australian Standards AS/NZS 1269.

Common Questions

Adults over 50 are recommended to have a baseline hearing test and then reassess every 2–3 years, or sooner if changes are noticed. Workers in noisy industries should follow occupational monitoring schedules.

No — hearing tests are completely painless. You sit in a quiet booth and respond to tones and speech presented through headphones. The assessment takes approximately 45–60 minutes.

Medicare rebates apply to audiology services with a valid GP referral. Eligible pensioners and veterans can access comprehensive hearing services under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program.

If you have confirmed hearing loss affecting daily communication — particularly difficulty following conversation in noise, frequently asking for repetition, or turning up the TV — hearing aid assessment is recommended.

There is currently no cure for tinnitus, but effective management strategies exist. Sound therapy, hearing aids (for patients with concurrent hearing loss), TRT and counselling significantly reduce the impact of tinnitus on quality of life.
