Restore Your Teeth's Function & Appearance

Dental decay, cracks, fractures and worn teeth left untreated will worsen over time — resulting in pain, infection and ultimately tooth loss. Restorative dentistry at Peninsula Dental in Mornington addresses these problems promptly and effectively, using high-quality materials matched to the colour of your natural teeth for invisible, aesthetically pleasing results.

Modern composite fillings and ceramic restorations are not only natural-looking but also structurally superior to old-fashioned amalgam (silver) fillings in many applications. They bond directly to tooth structure, require less removal of healthy tooth and preserve the integrity of your teeth for longer.

Our restorative treatment process always begins with a thorough assessment and a clear, itemised treatment plan with fees — so you know exactly what's involved before any treatment starts. We take time to explain your options, including the pros and cons of different materials and approaches, empowering you to make the best decision for your teeth and budget.

What We Offer

Tooth-Coloured Composite Fillings

Direct composite resin restorations for cavities and minor damage — matched precisely to your tooth colour, bonded for strength and requiring minimal removal of healthy tooth structure.

Porcelain & Zirconia Crowns

Full-coverage restorations fabricated to fit over a damaged, weakened or root-treated tooth — protecting it completely while restoring natural appearance and full chewing function.

Fixed Dental Bridges

A permanent prosthetic replacing one or more missing teeth — supported by the adjacent natural teeth with crowns, offering a fixed, non-removable solution.

Ceramic Inlays & Onlays

Precision-made restorations for larger cavities or damage that fall between a filling and a full crown — providing superior strength and fit for back teeth under heavy chewing load.

Cracked Tooth Treatment

Diagnosis and management of cracked teeth — which can cause sharp pain when biting. Treatment ranges from a crown for protection through to root canal therapy for more extensive cracks.

Old Amalgam Replacement

Safe removal of old silver amalgam fillings and replacement with contemporary tooth-coloured composite or ceramic restorations.

Why Patients Choose Peninsula MDC

01

Early Treatment Saves Teeth

Addressing decay and damage early is always less invasive, less expensive and results in a better long-term outcome than waiting for a problem to worsen.

02

Natural-Looking Materials

All our restorations are tooth-coloured and carefully shade-matched — no silver fillings, no dark metal margins, just natural-looking results.

03

Transparent Treatment Planning

We always provide a full, itemised treatment plan with fees before any restorative work begins — no surprises, no pressure.

Common Questions

A filling restores a portion of a tooth from the inside. A crown covers the entire tooth from the outside, providing full protection for a severely damaged, weakened or root-treated tooth.

Composite fillings typically last 7–10 years with good oral hygiene. Ceramic inlays and onlays are more durable and can last 15+ years.

We use only tooth-coloured composite resin or ceramic materials for all new restorations. Silver (amalgam) fillings are no longer placed at our clinic.

The preparation appointment uses local anaesthetic, so the procedure itself should be comfortable. Some sensitivity in the days following is normal. A temporary crown is placed while your permanent crown is being fabricated.

Yes — a well-made fixed dental bridge allows you to eat almost all foods normally. We advise avoiding very hard or sticky foods that could put excessive stress on the bridge.
