Pathology testing is a cornerstone of modern medicine — enabling diagnosis, monitoring of chronic conditions and screening for disease. At Peninsula MDC Mornington, we make pathology collection convenient by offering on-site collection coordinated with your GP consultation.
Your GP will request the appropriate tests, our collection team processes the sample on-site, and results are sent directly to your GP. This streamlined process means faster diagnosis and follow-up, reducing the number of separate appointments you need.
Convenient access to quality pathology is a key advantage of attending Peninsula MDC Mornington. Rather than visiting a separate collection centre after your GP appointment, many patients can have their blood drawn on-site at the same visit — saving time and reducing inconvenience. Results are sent directly to your GP, who will review findings and contact you to discuss next steps — ensuring nothing is missed and your care remains coordinated.
Measures red cells, white cells and platelets to screen for anaemia, infection, inflammation and blood disorders.
Kidney function (urea, creatinine), liver function (ALT, AST), electrolytes and comprehensive metabolic profiling.
Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides — essential for cardiovascular risk assessment and monitoring statin therapy.
Fasting blood glucose, HbA1c and glucose tolerance testing for diagnosis and ongoing diabetes monitoring.
TSH, free T4 and T3 to diagnose and monitor hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and thyroid autoimmune conditions.
HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, hepatitis B & C screening panels — all handled with complete confidentiality.
Consultation and pathology collection at the same location means fewer trips and faster results.
Results are sent directly to your GP, who will contact you to discuss findings and arrange any necessary follow-up.
The vast majority of pathology requested by a GP attracts a Medicare rebate, minimising out-of-pocket costs.
Yes — a pathology request form from your GP is required for most tests. This ensures the right tests are ordered and that results are reviewed by a clinician. Book a GP consultation to obtain your request.
Some tests — including fasting glucose, HbA1c and lipid panels — require fasting for 8–12 hours prior. Your GP will advise you at the time of requesting. Water is always permitted.
Routine pathology results are typically available within 1–3 business days. Your GP will contact you by phone or via a follow-up appointment to discuss results.
Most pathology requested by a GP is Medicare-rebated. A small number of tests (e.g. food sensitivity panels, some hormone tests) are private. Your GP will advise if private fees apply.
Results are sent to your GP and can be accessed via the MyHealth Record app if you are registered. Your GP remains your primary contact for interpreting and acting on results.
